A Drum Gear Coupling is a type of coupling used in mechanical drive systems, primarily designed to connect two shafts and transmit torque. Its unique design involves the meshing of gears with a drum-shaped wheel to transfer power, typically used in applications that involve moderate loads and high torque.
Main Features:
- Structure: A drum gear coupling consists of two main components: a pair of meshing drum-shaped gears. Each gear has an outer drum-like shape, and these gears transfer torque through their engagement. Typically, one part of the coupling features external teeth, while the other part has internal teeth.
- Working Principle: During operation, the drum-shaped gear part transfers power and torque by meshing with the other gear. Due to the gear design, this coupling can function with some angular and radial misalignment, making it suitable for installations where shafts are not perfectly aligned.
